Welcome to Beaufort County Community College's
Continuing Education
- Mission
The objectives of the Continuing Education Division are to provide non-credit
occupational training, re-training and upgrading in vocational and professional areas;
raise the educational level of adults; and make available instruction in home and family
education, leisure activities, and cultural advancement. The scope of the program is
determined only by the needs of the adult population it serves.
-
- Continuing Education Units
Continuing Education follows national guidelines for the recording of Continuing Education
Units (CEUs). One CEU is ten (10) contact hours of participation in an organized
continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and
qualified instruction. CEU credit may be awarded in a class by using the following
criteria as a guideline: 75% attendance along with demonstrated competency by testing
and/or demonstrated competency by practicum. If attendance by itself is sole criterion,
then the student must attend 90% of the class.
-
- Refund Policy
A refund shall not be made except under the following circumstances: A student who officially withdraws from an extension class(es) prior to the first class
meeting will be eligible for a 100 percent refund. Also, a student is eligible for a 100
percent refund if an applicable class fails to "make" due to insufficient
enrollment.
-
- After the respective class begins, a 75 percent refund shall be made upon
the written request of the student if the student officially withdraws from the class
prior to or on the 10 percent point of the scheduled hours of the class. NOTE: This rule
is applicable regardless of the number of times the class meets or the number of hours the
class is scheduled to meet.
-
- Where a student, having paid the required registration fee for a
semester, dies during that semester (prior to or on the last day of examinations of the
college the student was attending), all registration fees for that semester may be
refunded to the estate of the deceased.
Registration fees for self-supporting classes are non-refundable once
the class begins.
Transcripts
Any student completing a Continuing Education class may obtain an official transcript by
calling 940-6349. All requests must be made in writing.
- Teaching Opportunities
We always strive to hire the best possible instructors for our students. Employment opportunities are listed at Job Opportunities.
-
- Repeating Classes
A student can repeat an occupational class twice in a five year period. If enrolled
more than this, the student must pay the current rate per contact/credit hour rather than
the standard registration fee
