is BCCC student email?
The electronic mail package provided for you is a world-class collaboration
suite that manages electronic messaging for course usage, with attachments, and calendaring
for management of appointments, notes and tasks.
Who can use
student email?
Student
Email is available to all BCCC registered curriculum students.
How soon
will my student email be available to me after I register?
Since the registration
process is an ongoing activity that is very fluid in nature, the drop add
procedure presents a challenge to having the email accounts available
instantly for those affected students. Supplemental loads will be done as
numbers warrant over the registration period, throughout the first two weeks
of the semester.
How do I log
into the student email system?
You may access
Student Email by using the
link on the BCCC home page or on
the Distance
Learning page. You may also go
directly to the login screen at on the
Student Email page.
Is
there a more direct way of accessing my student email account?
Student Email can be directly
accessed by going to
http://stumail.beaufortccc.edu.
What’s my User
Name/Password?
User Name: last name + first initial + middle initial + 2-digit
month-of-birth + 2-digit day-of-birth.
Example: For John Q. Public born 01/23/1991
the username would be publicjq0123
Password:
last six digits of SS#.
What is my email
address?
Your email address will be your
last name + first initial + middle initial + 2-digit month-of-birth +
2-digit day-of-birth @stumail.beaufortccc.edu.
For John Q. Public born 01/23/1991 the
email address would be:

How
big is my mailbox?
The system has space limitations. Each
e-mail can be no larger than 2Mb and your mailbox has a limit of 5Mb.
If someone tries to send you an email, and your mailbox is full, they will
get a returned email with an error message that it could not be sent.
Likewise, if you try to send to someone whose mailbox is full, you will
receive an error message back indicating the message could not be sent. Make
sure to clear out any emails that you do not need.
Can I send
attachments with my email?
You can send documents
(limited to 2 MB) as
attachments to emails (see
Student
Email ).
Can I access BCCC
email off campus?
Yes. You go to
http://stumail.beaufortccc.edu to log in and check your email from any
location that has internet connection.
Can
I receive 3rd party email?
Many Internet Service Providers allow the redirection of email to alternate
locations.
Can I have more than one email account?
Yes, but the student is encouraged to use
the Student email account for class communication. It is important your
instructor knows what email account you will be using for their class.
Can
my email be forwarded to another account?
The State of North Carolina does not allow email forwarding when using the
BCCC Student Email services.
Is
my email account scanned for viruses?
Yes.
I cannot access GroupWise from home.
When you attempt to access GroupWise from the BCCC website, are you using
Internet Explorer by clicking on the blue "e"on the desktop? Be sure you
have 6.0 or a later version
of Internet Explorer. You may confirm this by opening Internet Explorer, in
the menu bar click 'Help', then 'about Internet Explorer'.
If you are using AOL be sure you are not using the version of Internet
Explorer in AOL. Once connected to AOL, just minimize the AOL
window and then click on the blue "e" (the Internet Explorer icon) on
your desktop.
Do you have a toolbar installed (i.e. Google,
or Yahoo) or any other application that may "block pop-up" advertisements?
If so, you may try disabling the pop-up blocking feature of your toolbar or
uninstalling the toolbar.
To turn off pop-up blocking in Internet Explorer 6.0, click on
Tools>Pop-Up Blocker>Turn Off Pop-Up Blocker
What
type of security is in place?
A scanner checks each message and attachment for viruses, Trojans, etc. and
it passes through the mail transport agent. It does not allow executable
attachments with .exe, .com, .scr etc.
Does
it matter what browser I use?
Internet Explorer or Netscape
are the recommended browsers.
Will my
email session time-out?
Yes. If you
are inactive for 20 minutes, the system will log you out.
How long will
I have an email account?
As long as you are a registered
student at BCCC.
Do you have a
toolbar installed (i.e. Google, or Yahoo) or any other application that may
"block pop-up" advertisements?
If so, you may try disabling the pop-up blocking feature of your toolbar or
uninstalling the toolbar. To turn off pop-up blocking in Internet Explorer

contact for help with my email account?
Please contact Brown McFadden at 252-940-6302. Please be prepared to name your internet service
provider (America OnLine, Microsoft Network, EarthLink, Cox, TriCounty,
etc), its local telephone dial-up number and support number, your PC
operating system (Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, etc) and any messages you
may have received when attaching to
stumail.beaufortccc.edu.
